Attention all French students!

Are you taking core French or French Immersion again next year?  Do you want to find out more information about studying abroad in Europe for 2 or 3 months during the second semester of next year?  If this is something that is potentially of interest to you, please come to a brief, but important student information session on Tuesday, December 17 immediately after school in room 202.  Merci beaucoup-- see you all there!     

St-Donat Final Payments-- REMINDER!

This is just a reminder to those parents that have not yet paid the entire amount for our St-Donat French Immersion trip:  the final payment of $275 is due immediately (cheques made payable to OTHS).

In the New Year, you will receive correspondence from me, informing you of our pre-departure meeting.  This meeting will take place roughly 1 week before our departure, and will provide you with very important information, such as what time we will need to meet for our departure on Sunday, February 9.

Until then, enjoy getting ready for the upcoming holiday season!  If you have any questions, as always, don't hesitate to contact me.

Franconnexion!

On Friday, four of our grade 9 French students from here at OTHS attended Franconnexion with me at Dr. Frank J. Hayden Secondary School in Burlington.  Our students benefited from many different workshops throughout the day, and even took part in Zumba...all in French!  According to my students, one of their favourite "ateliers" (workshops) was a grade 12 student panel who spoke to students about the benefits of continuing with French throughout high school.  Thanks again to the students who attended with me!

Au Revoir, Mlle Ng!

Jeudi passé était le dernier jour où Mlle Ng-- étudiante de l'Université de Toronto-- a enseigné ici à OTHS.  Pendant 4 semaines, Mlle Ng a observé mes 3 classes, et elle a enseigné une grande partie de mes classes d'immersion de la 9ème et la 10ème année, et elle a vraiment adoré chaque jour ici.  Elle mentionnait tout le temps qu'elle était si impressionnée par des élèves ici.  Donc, un grand merci à tous mes élèves, et félicitations à Mlle Ng, qui va certainement avoir du succès comme enseignante à l'avenir!     

L'Immersion Française à OTHS: Notre Voyage à St-Donat!

Cette année scolaire, nous allons commencer une tradition ici à OTHS: notre voyage à St-Donat, Québec!  Tous les élèves de la 9ème année-- qui sont dans le programme d'immersion ici-- ont la chance d'aller.  Je suis tellement content que nous avons reçu beaucoup d'intérêt: cette année, nous allons prendre 20 élèves d'OTHS avec nous!  Nous allons voyager aussi avec l'école Iroquois Ridge, et ils ont 23 élèves (des programmes immersion et français cadre) qui vont aller avec nous. 

A reminder for parents: the second payment of $275 (cheques made out to OTHS) should be submitted to Mr. Yull in workroom 206 by tomorrow (Friday, November 1) if possible.

Qui est M. Yull?

I'm in my 13th year of teaching, and my first here at OTHS.  In the past, I've taught at Acton High School (3 years), North Peace Secondary School in British Columbia (3 years), Dalewood Middle School in Hamilton (4 years), Iroquois Ridge High School (2 years), and now...here I am at OT!  I've been so lucky to have met so many fantastic students throughout my career, and I look forward to working with the enthusiastic students of Oakville Trafalgar!

During the school day, I teach during periods 2, 3 and 5.  When I'm not teaching, I can found in workroom 206. After school, I can be found in the weight room with students until 4:15 on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I'm also the "coach" of one of our awesome Intermediate Reach teams-- we can be found practicing until about 4 o'clock in room 202 on Wednesdays.  

A tradition I hope to begin here is the grade 9 French Trip to St-Donat, Quebec (taking place this school year from Feb.9-12, 2014). Last year, we took 40 students from Iroquois Ridge, and in the past I've taken students from Acton and Dalewood.  An amazing time has always been had by all-- I'm sure this year will be no different!

E = MC 2 Departure

Attention all E= MC 2 students!  Sunday is fast approaching!  I look forward to an amazing experience at Queen's with all of you.  Please be ready to go in the parking lot this Sunday no later than 12:15 pm.  Our bus will be coming in from Burlington with students aboard already, so we should be ready to leave once it arrives.

E= mc2 meeting on Tuesday

Calling all students interested in an incredible enrichment opportunity!  From Sunday, May 5 until Friday, May 10, Queen's University will once again be hosting its E=mc2 program (Enrichment Mini Course).  Are you interested in a total university experience, living in residence, and studying a subject of your choosing at an advanced level?  If so, please see me on TUESDAY, FEB.26 at 11:15 in room 217 for a mandatory meeting.  Early bird registration ends this week, so please be there!
