GRADE 9's: ST-DONAT!

A big "merci" to all of the grade 9 students who have handed in their permission forms and their $100 deposit for our grade 9 St-Donat trip, happening on February 10, 11, 12 and 13!  The response has been fantastic!  So far, I have received more than 30 applications.

If you have yet to hand in your application, but you are still interested in the trip, please do so by this coming Friday, November 15.  When I'm not teaching, you can find me in my work room (room 221).

I have been in touch with the Perspectives Tour Company, and they are aware of the strong response from you.  I'm very hopeful that we'll be able to take all interested students on this great trip!

*An important reminder:  our parent information session will take place this Tuesday, Novermber 13 at 6:30 in the staff room.  Of course, all students are welcome to come to this meeting as well!  If your parents have any questions about the trip, this is their chance to ask those questions.

See you Tuesday at 6:30!

One week to go...

...until March Break!

Here is some information for each of my classes heading into this final week before the break:

FIF3U1 (grade 11 immersion)

Nous allons continuer le film pendant la semaine (we'll finish it before March Break).

You must be able to write all nouns and verbs in French, and everything else in English.

CHV2O1 (grade 10 civics)

It's YPI week!  I'm looking forward to seeing all of your Youth Philanthropy Initiative presentations starting on Monday.  I already have one group that has volunteered to go first (Noor, Michelle, Kaitlyn).  Every group should be ready to present on Monday in case they are called upon.

Good luck with your final preparations for this-- remember there could be $5000 on the line for your charity!

Saturday 11 February 2012

End of a great first week!

One week of semester 2 is down-- we're off to a great start!

*Note that my period 5 civics class has officially been moved to room 101.

Things to keep in mind for each course as we move into week 2:

I hope you guys had fun doing the practice literacy test on Friday!

Period 5 (CHV2O1):  The Citizenship Reflection Assignment we worked on in class Friday is due on Monday.  Remember: if you choose to do an actual powerpoint, you will need to bring in a laptop to class on Monday (your own, or from the Ridge Room) to present to your small group.  Also, remember that one of your examples that you use cannot be from the film Freedom Writers
